“They bring the flowers that bloom in May.”
Three girls dancing in the rain …
“So keep on looking for a blue bird,
And list’ning for his song,
Whenever April showers come along.”
April provides me with a great opportunity. The calendar flips to a new month and my angels are telling me … make the changes you need to make now … don’t wait another minute … don’t waste your time with pouting or self-doubt and get to work.
I am on a self-imposed writing hiatus. Notice if you will, a change is in my layout, the picture in my header and those on the sideboard, have all been provided by my multi-tasking, talented photographer-daughter, JenG.
Of the work I saved from the old journals while in college, to the babies being born and raised, to the news I am a grandmother, one character survives, is alive and healthy and has made the long journey from there to here.
She began as a feisty little kid, grew up, changed careers, changed her last name, emerges in my revision of her first mystery: Songbird, A Third Eye Mystery, and through wind and snow and rain, she follows me still.

I decided to rewrite this book and the two others I have been crafting for the last two years. Okay, this is the part where I need to learn to breathe. Take a few deep breaths, calm yourself and don’t worry … your time will come.
I have been fortunate to find a BETA reader from my RWS-WF’s group who is reading the current draft of Second Hand News, my first romantic comedy.
Almost finished with the final draft of Lizzie Brogan and the Broadway Ghost, a paranormal romance which prominently features the true story of one very famous Broadway ghost, David Belasco of The Belasco Theatre.
My hiatus is not officially over. I have at least four more books I want to read and some very urgent personal business I seem to never have enough time to complete.
Much gratitude to Christi Corbett for her support and inspiration, and most especially for her “I don’t suck” file.
Thanks to Nina Badzin and her fabulous published short stories, I have decided to take some time to re-read and re-visit my short story collection from Sunset Park and Five Seasons.
A total of twenty-two stories that follow Josephine “Joe” Napoli and her best friend Peter “PeeWee” Malingone, from second grade to adulthood, their fifty-seven Italian relatives and the wonderful contrast between the Brooklyn urchins and their country bumpkin cousins.
Based on a suggestion from Anne R. Allen, an incredibly talented writer, editor and blogger, I will continue City Scapes, the narrative/photographic series of my favorite place in the world … New York City … all five of her boroughs with the travails and treasures she holds for everyone.

These have been separated and are under the link “A Series … City Scapes.”
There was an abbreviated moment where I thought I could do Poetry Wednesdays … but alas I have not enough to continue this for more than two or three more times. I will spare you the long, sad tale of my sojourn to the poetic muse. I didn’t exactly burn most of them … although I can remember ripping apart a few. Most of my prosaic prose did not survive to this day and I cannot shed one tear for their demise.
I will continue Silent Friday, but I have been unsuccessful in gaining access to two of the artist I wish to highlight. It will be a reoccurring theme with photographers and artists I am unfamiliar with, but whose work I enjoy on my travels through cyberspace.
Enjoy the rainy season, and stay tuned for more Ramblings from …
fOIS In The City

Aw shucks. Thanks fro the shout-out. Sounds like you’re making some good plans. A series of short stories about Brooklyn life in the 1950s and 60s sounds like a winner. I’d look into magazines that might publish nostalgia and humor pieces. If you can get a few published, they’d help get your name out there. Maybe even make a little money. Maybe there’s a Italian-American heritage website or magazine?
A blog dedicated to NYC is perfect for a writer who uses the City as a setting. That’s a creative use of blogging to reach an audience of readers as well as writers.
My insecure self just sent you a note. Yes, I shout out those who teach, inspire and entertain.
I’ll think about your suggestions. You have been right in the past and why spoil our track record?
Thanks again
Florence,
Thanks for the link and best wishes during your writing hiatus. I’ve taken several over the years and have come back refreshed and ready for words each time.

I feel disconnected one minute and energized the next. We shall see what this brings
Thanks for being there and loved your guest post.
I’m a firm believer in hiatuses. They refresh and renew. After I finish a WIP I usually stoop writing for a few months and revise here and there. It always makes me feel better.
I hope you keep up your blog tho so we can see how you are. Poems, pics, all of it.
Enjoy the break. And enjoy this amazing FLA weather. Happy Spring!
This is the first break I’ve had in four years and I think I am long overdue. It won’t be as long as a few months … maybe another two weeks and then I’ll snap to attention once more.
I’ll keep up with the blog, do some BETA reading and reading for pleasure and shake out these old feathers.
OMG I am so enjoying our weather, girlfriend. I am loving it so much I start a new ex regimine in our pool tomorrow
thanks for visiting.
